ERNESTINE YOUNG
1918 - 2011


SHAWNEE, Okla. — Ernestine Ervin Young, 92, of Brooksville, died January 1, 2011, in Tecumseh.
Ernestine was born December 15, 1918, in Brooksville to Corrie and Lelia Jones Ervin.
She married Carl Young in Shawnee.
Ernestine earned an associate's degree from Seminole State and attended OBU. She was employed as a teacher's aide at Macomb Schools, she retired from Community Action after being employed for many years as a field representative, she worked for Project Heart.
Ernestine was employed as the town clerk for Brooksville for many years.
She was an active member of St. John Baptist Church for more than 80 years.
She loved her hometown and was very involved in the community.
Her favorite pastimes were fishing, sewing and traveling. Ernestine loved her cat "Beauty."
Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Young; three sons, Winfield "Bob" Young, Clyde "Maurice" Young and Michael Young and one daughter-in-law, Tarynna Young.
Survived by son, Carl Young and wife, Betty Young of Shawnee; daughter, Joyce Chandler of Wilson, North Carolina; daughter, Virgill Young Winrow and husband, Robert Winrow of Earlsboro; daughter, Kathryn Young Oliver and husband Lee Oliver of Brooksville; son, Clifford Young and wife Michelle Young of Dover, New Hampshire; son, Sylvester Young of Colorado Springs and daughter, Carolyn Young of Brooksville; thirty six grandchildren, fifty three great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St John Baptist Church with Pastor Lee E. Oliver officiating.
Burial will follow at Brooksville Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, of Tecumseh.
