DAVID LEE WHITETURKEY
1945 - 2014


Mr. David Lee Whiteturkey, 69, of Bartlesville, died at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa.
Mr. Whiteturkey was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on February 27, 1945 the son of Eddie Lee and Jennie May Line Whiteturkey.
He grew up and received his education in the Dewey schools and he graduated from Dewey High School in 1965. He entered the U.S. Air Force on January 27, 1966 and was stationed at the Clinton {Oklahoma} Air Force Base and in Alaska during the Vietnam era. Following his honorable discharge on December 1, 1969 he returned to the Bartlesville area to make his home.
He had been employed at Leonard Printing and then operated his own business, Tee Pee Engravers in Bartlesville.
He was married to Anita Sue Friend in 1973 and they were married for 40 years.
He was a past member of the Caney Valley CB Club and was on the original "Tornado Watch Team" for the Civil Defense, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Whiteturkey is survived by his wife Sue Whiteturkey; two step children, Kevin Leard of McLoud, Oklahoma; and Teresa Leard of Florida; and a number of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Svitak of the New Hope Indian United Methodist Church officiating and full military rites will be accorded by the Ceremonial Detail of the James H. Teel American Legion Post @ 105.
Memorial services and cremation are under the direction of the Stumpff funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Washington County SPCA, 16620 State Highway 123, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
