EDWARD LOUIS WHATLEY
1928 - 2001


Earlsboro resident Edward Louis Whatley died at local hospital Monday. He was 73.
He was born April 14, 1928, in Jacksonville, Alabama to John W. and Bessie McDonald Whatley.
He married Reta DeVault in 1953 in Reno, Nevada and worked in railroad construction after being discharged from the U.S. Army.
He was a veteran of World War II and served as a medical aidsman and rifle marksman.
Whatley had lived in the Shawnee area for the past seven years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Survivors include two sons, Allen Todd Whatley, Earlsboro; and Marion Edward Louis Whatley of Shawnee; four grandchildren, Jason Whatley of Shawnee; Nathan Whatley of Earlsboro; Dorie Whatley of North Carolina; and Mariah Whatley of Earlsboro; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Ragsdale and Margaret Whatley, both of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at Neal Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
