MARVELL B. THOMPSON
1921 - 2001


Marvell B. "Pap Pap" Thompson, 80, Maud, died Thursday in Ada.
The son of Jeff and Tessie Blair Thompson was born January 2, 1921 in Kiowa, Oklahoma. He attended school in Wardville.
Mr. Thompson completed his education in the Navy, with which he served during World War II in Okinawa from 1940 to 1943.
On February 11, 1942, he married Ruby Cobb in Pauls Valley.
Mr. Thompson worked for 25 years at various truck driving assignments in Oklahoma City before retiring in 1981. He lived in Macomb for 31 years and had lived in Maud since 1992. He was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Maud.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Milo Thompson, Marvin Thompson, Millard Thompson, Monte Blue Thompson and Morris Thompson; and one grandson, James Garretson.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jolene and Max Hunt of Macomb; Deborah and Randy Briggs of Tecumseh; Linda and James Garretson; and Nickie and Jerry Nelson, all of Maud; a son and daughter-in-law, Morris and Carleta Thompson of Tecumseh; two sisters and a brother-in-law, LuraBell Newman; and Faye and George O'Dell; all of Oklahoma City; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Marland and Margaret Thompson of Del City; and Royster Thompson of Moore; eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Pentecostal Church of God in Tecumseh. The Rev. Tim Martin and the Rev. Fred Owens will officiate.
Burial will be in Old Moral Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
