EDISON EARL BENNY STEVENS

Former Shawnee resident Edison Earl Benny Stevens of Norman died Monday in a Norman nursing home. He was 47.He was born in Shawnee on February 17, 1950, the son of Frances Stevens.He was a member of the Sac and Fox and Kickapoo tribes.He graduated from Dale High School where he was active in basketball and baseball, and attended Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech.Survivors include his mother, Frances Stevens Meshquekennock of Shawnee; sisters, Gail Harjo of Shawnee and Francena Little of Seminole; niece, Sarah Harjo; nephews, Daniel Wind, Jesse Kent, Isaiah Harjo, Osceola Little Jr. and Mitchell Little; aunts, Evelyn Haney of McLoud and Delores Wallace of Shawnee; and a great nephew, Jordan Wind.Tribal rites will be today at the Carol Mack Patterson home and burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Wakolee Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.Published November 5, 1997.
