JOHN WESLEY SPOON SR.
1949 - 2004


Shawnee resident John Wesley Spoon, Sr., 54, died Tuesday, May 18, in Oklahoma City.
He was born September 8, 1949 in Shawnee to Caroline Bertie Spoon.
He attended school at New Hope and Tecumseh.
He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
On August 6, 2003 he married Peggy Dodson.
He worked as a power lineman for Electrical Line Service for many years and was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe.
He was preceded in death by his mother and daughter, Kimberly Spoon.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Spoon, of the home; son John Wesley Spoon, Jr. of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; two daughters, Tanya Ann Wilson and ShaVonne Presley both of Ardmore; nine grandchildren; stepson Ted Pinkston of Moore; stepdaughter, Terri Gibson of Moore; brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Cheryl Murdock of Tecumseh; three sisters, and brothers-in-law, Glenda and James Deer of Shawnee; Anna and Ron Woods of Choctaw; and Tawana and Ronald Greenfield of Edmond; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1:00 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery.
Dinner will be provided at the Spoon Family Home follwing the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
