1950 - 2012
Gerald Wayne “Short” Smith, long time resident of Shawnee, passed away suddenly on October 6, 2012 at the age of 62. He was born September 26, 1950 to Dallas and Dorothy Vaughn Smith in New Mexico.Short spent most of his life working as a master mechanic and Jack of all trades.He spent the later part of his life working for Century Inc.He loved to shoot off professional firework displays. He also enjoyed noodling, boating, working on race cars, showing longhorn cattle and spent many summers as the President of the Shawnee Girls Softball league.Short was preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by his wife Glenda; and grandson, Dallas Borowski of the home; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Kenny Ramsey of Shawnee; two brothers and their wives Ronald and Karen Smith of Tecumseh; and Dan and Nancy Smith of Texas; close friends Ross Coleman, Jose Colon and Bob Mayo; grandchildren Nicole Byrd, Andrew and Jacob Little, Jessica and Chad Dowd, and Brittany Ramsey; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday October 10, 2012 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Tecumseh with interment following at the Holdenville Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
