Shawnee nursing home administrator Derrill G. Smith died Tuesday at his home. He was 52.He was born July 13, 1945, in Shawnee to Charles R. and Betty Tait Smith.He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1963 and attended American Business College and took courses in nursing home administration at the University of Oklahoma.He married Ruby Belcher on October 16, 1964, in Shawnee.He had lived in Shawnee most of his life and had held management positions with Mobil Chemical and Central Plastics. He was administrator of Golden Rule Nursing Home.Mr. Smith was a member of Gordon Cooper Church of God where he served as a trustee, Oklahoma Nursing Home Association and Johnson Community Town Council.Surviving are his wife, Ruby Smith, and son, Tim Smith, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Derrill Jr. and Ramona Smith, Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Tony Foreman, Newalla; Lori and Chad Stacy, Shawnee; nine grandchildren, Trey, Sami and Toby Smith, Kalob and Kyle Foreman, Jake Smith, Scott and Brenden Towne, Kara Wells; mother, Betty Smith, Shawnee; brothers and sisters-in-law, including his twin, Merrill and Bula Smith, Midwest City; David and Robin Smith, Chuck and Kathy Smith, all of Shawnee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and Charles Jantz, Terri and John Madden, all of Bristow; Betty and James Nicholson, Shawnee, and many other relatives and friends.Preceding him in death were his father, Charles R. Smith and a brother, Charles Milton Smith.Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Northridge Church of Christ with Michael Smith officiating.Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.Visitation will be 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.Published September 24, 1997.
