Leroy Alvin Skinner, Sr., 73, of Macomb, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at his home.
He was born on September 10, 1941 to Glennis Navoy and Jessie Nadine Lane Skinner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Leroy was raised in Oklahoma City and attended Oklahoma City Public Schools. He graduated in 1960 from Capitol Hill High School.
He lived most of his life in Oklahoma City, having lived time in Davenport, Piedmont and Hugo, before moving to Macomb where he has lived for the past 19 years.
He married Lola Karen Black on July 21, 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Leroy proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era from September 1960 to September 1966 and was honorably discharged.
He spent most of his career in law enforcement having worked for the City of Hugo as Chief of Police for 2 years, was a police officer in Davenport, Piedmont and worked for 30 years for Oklahoma County as an officer. Leroy also worked as an EMT in Davenport and retired as a Livestock Inspector for the State Department of Agriculture.
Leroy was a member of the Capital Hill Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32 degree mason in the consistory Glunthia India Temple Shrine, and a member of the Provost Guard where he served as captain for 3 years; he was also a member of the Blue Knight, and of the Sheriffs and Police Officers Association, and served as the first president of the Oklahoma Trail Riders Association.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Donald Roy Skinner; parents, Glennis and Jessie Skinner; brother and sister-in-law, George and Martha Skinner; son-in-law, Bill McMillan; and aunt Gladys McDaniel.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen Skinner of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Starla and Conley Marshall of Yale, Oklahoma; daughter, Darla McMillan of Oklahoma City; and son and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Kristi Skinner, Jr. of Newalla, Oklahoma; step-daughter, Angela and Taylor Williams of Van Buren, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Skinner and Navoy Skinner, both of Wanette, Oklahoma; sister, Sharon Goode of Moore, Oklahoma; and other extended family and friends.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 2, 2015 with Billy Benson officiating. Burial will follow at Romulus Cemetery.
