JACK DAVID SIMPSON
1948 - 2007


Shawnee resident Jack David Simpson, 58, died Sunday, January 7, at St. Anthony Hospital of natural causes.
He was born January 26, 1948, in Montgomery County, rural Caney, Kansas, to Fred David Simpson and Marjorie Louise Carinder.
He graduated from Caney High School and on July 1, 1967, he married Sue Ducummon in Caney.
Jack served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam.
He worked in the construction industry for Ferguson Interiors.
He was a member of the local VFW where he was a past commander, American Legion, VVA, 40 et 8.
Jack enjoyed slow pitch softball, woodworking, camping, fishing and the time he was able to spend with his dearly loved family.
Preceding him in death were his father; two grandsons, Jarrett Simpson and Devon Carter; father-in-laws, J. C. Ducummon Jr. and Harry H. Levites.
Surviviors include his wife, Sue Simpson of the home; three children and spouses, Jack D. Simpson Jr. and Tonya of Shawnee; Julia Carter and Daman of Shawnee; and Jason Simpson and Rhonda of Mt. Home, Arkansas; grandchildren, Paige, Jaylee and Jayden Simpson, Taron and Logan Carter, Jessica, Jami, Jewels and Jacey Simpson, Rachel, Courtney and Justin Pruitt; great-granddaughter, Rilye Weger; sisters and spouses, Marjorie Artherton and Norman of Caney, Kansas; Mary Jo Ketchum and Bob of Pueblo, Colorado; and Helen Capps of Denton, Texas; mother-in-law, Nettie B. Levites; sister-in-laws and spouse, Janet Fry and John of Oklahoma City; and Margie Silvers of Tulsa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.
Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Nazarene First Church of Shawnee with Conley Henderson officating.
Burial will be in Harrisonville Cemetery near Tyro, Kansas.
