THRESA MAE SHAWN
1938 - 2014
Thresa Mae Hudgins Shawn died March 12, 2014 in Purcell at the age of 75 years 8 months 30 days.She was born June 13, 1938 in Macomb, Oklahoma to Theodore and Pauline Drain Hudgins.She was raised and attended school in the Macomb, St. Louis and the Romulus area.Thresa worked as an waitress for many years, even owning her own restaurant for a few years in the Shawnee/Tecumseh area. She also was a local Avon representative.In 1957, Thresa married Jackie Shawn in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They were married for 55 years before Jackie’s passing in 2012.Thresa and Jackie made Purcell their home 36 years ago, moving from Shawnee.She enjoyed playing cards, taking care of her husband and family, and spending time with her grandchildren.She was a big OU and Thunder fan and an excellent cook.She collected salt and pepper shakers, was of the Baptist faith and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.Thresa is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Pauline Hudgins; husband, Jackie Shawn; siblings, Betty Cassady and Ronald Hudgins.Survivors include her son, Garner Shawn and wife Pam of Purcell; Tammy Cassell of Asher; Paula Shawn of Purcell; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Autumn, Amanda, Garner Jr., Telisha, David, Brandon, Kristopher and Johnny; fifteen great-grandchildren, Chase, Klayton, Beau, Sophie, Olivia, Willa, Joseph, Zackary, Benjamin, Lydia, Kayelynn, Johnny Jr., Noah, Audra and Tucker; one great-great grandchild, Garen; siblings, Donald Hudgins and wife Louise of Tecumseh; Leon Hudgins and wife Danelle of Oklahoma City; Bobby Dutton of Seminole; Bonnie Hunter of Seminole; friend, Connie Martin; and many other relatives and friends.Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Wadley's Funeral Chapel.Interment will follow at Wanette Cemetery under the care of Wadley's Funeral Service.
