BETTY JANE SCHLEHUBER
1926 - 2016


Betty Jane Peavler Schlehuber, 89, of Moore, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at her home in Moore.
She was born October 2, 1926 to Curtis and Laura Hall Peavler in Eram, Oklahoma.
Betty grew up in St. Louis, Oklahoma where she attended St. Louis Public Schools and graduated from St. Louis High School.
She met her future husband, Kelles Frank “Red” Schlehuber in St. Louis and they were married on February 16, 1946 in Gainesville, Texas and he preceded her in death on September 3, 2004.
After marriage “Red” worked in the oilfield and they lived in several places before settling in Moore where she resided for the last 30 years.
Betty worked outside the home for a short time, but spent most of her life as a homemaker.
She enjoyed traveling and was a member of an R.V. Club.
Betty and Kelles traveled all over the U.S. and Canada and traveled to New Zealand and Australia.
She was an excellent cook and loved cooking and baking for her family. Betty enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She and Kelles are dancing again as they did in their younger years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelles Frank “Red” Schlehuber, two sons, Frank Curtis Schlehuber and Daniel Joe Schlehuber, grandson, Jesse, her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Betty is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Jane and Cecil McCoy of Moore, Oklahoma and Jean Zvonek of Moore, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Kayla and Nate Skinner, Laura Couser, Kyle and Katie McCoy, Aaron Zvonek and Cassie and Ryan Smith; twelve great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews and other family and friends; and her feline companion, Blair.
Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 and continue through service time.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Steve Lance with Heavenly Hospice in Moore officiating.
Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
