Shawnee resident LaVern Austin Redwine, 83, died Saturday, December 30, in Oklahoma City.LaVern was born December 5, 1923, in Shawnee to William Walter and Maggie Greenlee Austin.She married Ray LeRoy Redwine. He preceded her in death in July 1995.She lived in California from 1947 to 1984.LaVern was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During World War II she was a "Rosie the Riveter."Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, five brothers, three sisters, and one grandson.Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Leslie Ray and Nancy Redwine; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Steve Carroll; sister, Euleane Cook; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous friends.Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. today.Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Gaskill Funeral Chapel with James Walter and Chaplain Mike McCauley officiating.Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
