1946 - 2016


Cheryle J. McGlasson Newman, 69, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away, Thursday, May 12, 2016 in Shawnee.
She was born October 5, 1946 to Jack William and Julia Ann Kreel McGlasson in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Cheryle was raised in Beggs, Oklahoma and was a 1964 graduate of Beggs High School.
She married William Newman in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 2004.
After her marriage to William they moved to Oklahoma City until 1973 when they made their home in Tecumseh, moving back to Oklahoma City in 1998 and moving back to Tecumseh in 2004 where she has resided since.
Cheryle worked at Firelake Express in Tecumseh from 2005 to 2015, before that she worked as a Legal Secretary for Russ Haskins and as a bank teller at American National Bank.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh. Cheryle was a den mother for the Boy Scouts, a good bowler, loved collecting cookbooks, reading and was a good basketball player and she loved playing bingo with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Roger McGlasson and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clarence and Stella Newman.
Cheryle is survived by her two sons and one daughter-in-law, Randy and Millie Newman and Ricky Newman of Tecumseh; six grandchildren, Tyler and Christina Spicer, Kassie Newman, Krissie and Eric Lulko, Cody Newman, Julia Newman and Emily Newman; seven great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Mike McGuire; two brothers and sister-in-law, Mickey and Jan McGlasson and Jack William McGlasson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jim and Sue Sharber; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 and continue through service time.
Family gathering to meet with friends and family will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home.
Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tony Peak, First Baptist Church in Tecumseh officiating.
Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
