1923 - 2000
Bernard McDonnell of Shawnee died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 77.He was born August 27, 1923, in Lackawanna, New York to John and Helen McDonnell.He attended Our Lady of Victory High School in Lackawanna, N.Y.; Syracuse University at Syracuse, N.Y., and received a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma.Mr. McDonnell was a Civil Service Cost Analyst for the U. S. Air Force, retiring in 1983. He served in the Army/Air Corps at Tinker Air Force Base and later on Guam.He married Jewell Souders May 9, 1946, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, of which he was a member.He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.Survivors include his wife, Jewell McDonnell of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, David McDonnell, Shawnee; Mark and Diana McDonnell, Shawnee; Scott McDonnell, Shawnee; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet and Ron Seckel, Billings, Montana; Kathy West, Shawnee; three brothers, Mike McDonnell, Hollywood, Florida; Bill McDonnell, Rochester, N.Y.; Edward McDonnell, Blasdell, N.Y.; three sisters, Mary Pietrzak, Sun Lakes, Arizona; Catherine Tunney, Hamburg, N.Y.; Betty McDonnell, Orchard Park, N.Y.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Massoth, O.S.B. officiating.Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.The prayer service will be 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
