1910 - 2000
John L. Mashburn of Shawnee died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 90.He was born April 6, 1910, in McAlester, the son of William and Etta Mashburn.Mr. Mashburn owned and operated a laundry business for many years. In 1950, he and two of his brothers owned and operated a used car dealership. He retired in 1971.He was married in 1929 to Gertrude Long. She preceded him in death in 1986. He married Ardoth Bond Reding in Oklahoma City in 1987.Mr. Mashburn attended the Baptist church. In 1937, he moved to California and had lived in Shawnee since 1987.He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Benny, Art, Claude and Sterling Mashburn; three sisters, Ethel Mogridge, Ina Patrick and Alene Mikish and a stepson, Ronald Reding.Survivors include his wife, Ardoth Mashburn of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Mashburn, Clovis, California; daughter, JoAnn Trevett, Anza, California; three step daughters and spouses, Sharon and Ed Burns, Hinton; Delores Lemon, Stillwater; Peggy and Glen Bartosh, Nashville, Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brother and sister-in-law, William and Betty Mashburn, Denver, Colorado; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Kenneth Gun, Denver, Colorado; and Helen and Burse Borden of Shawnee.Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Bill Matthews officiating, assisted by Phil Thompson.Burial will be at San Jacinto Cemetery, Hemet, California.
