EDWIN CHARLES MARKHAM
1930 - 2006
Tecumseh resident Edwin Charles Markham died Saturday, December 23, in Tecumseh at the age of 75.He was born December 31, 1930 in Ellery Center, New York to Alton and Cora Seekings Markham.He lived in Jamestown, New York and Warren, Pennsylvania for many years before moving to Oklahoma 35 years ago.He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of VFW Post 53 in Jamestown, N.Y.He attended Hopewell Baptist Church.Mr. Markham worked as a furniture finish repairman for many years and later worked as a mechanic until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling to visit family and friends.Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Edwin Markham Jr. and a brother, Richard Markham.Survivors include his wife, Elaine E. Markham of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Welcome Markham of Tecumseh; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and James Cave of Tecumseh; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Jones of Frewsburg, New York, brother, Roger Markham of Falconer, New York, special friend, Howard Parsons of Clarksville, Tennessee; special cousin, Don Young of Alvin, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Service will be 2:00 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Norris officiating.Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Bethel Acres.
