HOMER WARNER LONG
1939 - 2000
Shawnee resident Homer Warner Long died November 3 in a local hospital. He was 61.Mr. Long was born February 4, 1939, in Chickasha, the son of Homer E. and Martha Avala Chasteen Long.He attended school in Blanchard and Norman.Homer was self-employed, doing lawn and garden work. He moved to Shawnee in 1996.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Long of Norman.Survivors include his five sons, Jimmy Long, Dewayne Long and Max Long, all of Norman; Kenny Long, Fresno, California; Gary Long, Gainesville, Texas; a daughter, Maxine Long, Norman; brother, Vernon Long, Denton, Texas; sister, Valery Brady, Shawnee; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Memorial services were held November 11 with Pastor Cliff Briscoe of Living Word Church officiating.Burial was in Neal Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Home of Shawnee.Published November 14, 2000.
