CHARLES EMERY KENNEDY
1953 - 2016


Charles Emery Kennedy, lifelong resident of Shawnee, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2016.
He was born August 2, 1953 to Benjamin and Ressie Kennedy in Shawnee. To friends and family, Charles was known as "Good Time", for he was the life of the party.
Charles was raised in Shawnee and attended Shawnee Public Schools. He graduated in 1971 and was a well known track star.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1971 and was later honorably discharged.
Charles worked at Tecumseh Middle School as a custodian for numerous years where he had a huge impact on all the children he came in contact with. He had a great sense of humor, was highly intelligent, and an overall great spirit to be around.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Ressie Green Kennedy; son, Charles Emery "Bookie" Kennedy, Jr.; daughter, Angel Talton Kennedy; grandson, Cameron Darrell Johson and brother, Jimmy Hawkins.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Natausha Kennedy Johnson of Forney, Texas; grandchildren, Kennedy and Ethan Johnson of Forney, Texas; brother, Kenneth Kennedy and wife Lilly of Maryland; brother, Cornelius Kennedy and wife Kathy of California; sister, Callar Wells and husband Clarence of Oklahoma City; one aunt, Betha Kennedy of San Antonio, Texas; special cousin, Billy Buford of California as well as a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Resthaven Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Harris.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
