1947 - 2016
Charles K. “Sonny” Humphrey, 69, of Macomb, passed away July 22, 2016 in Oklahoma City, after a valiant non-complaining battle with his health.Sonny was born February 7, 1947 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to C. W. and Weda Jean Beal Humphrey.He graduated from Macomb High School in 1965.Sonny was a starter on the basketball team and senior class president and earned the FFA State Farmers Degree. He attended Boys State his junior year and was awarded Richards Drug Store Achievement award two consecutive years.He attended East Central State University in Ada for 4 years.Sonny was a cattle trader and order buyer in Oklahoma’s largest markets for 50 plus years and operated a cattle ranch in Macomb.He married Gerallyn Leach Humphrey in Shawnee, Oklahoma on January 16, 1980.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mike Humphrey.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 ˝ years, Gerallyn of the home, three sons and a daughter-in-law; C. Mike Humphrey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chris W. Humphrey of Macomb, Oklahoma and Seth and Courtney Humphrey of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter and son- in-law, Sunny and Todd Munson of Shawnee; eight grandchildren, Brad, Derek, Kevin, Jack, Drew and Elisabeth Humphrey of Perkins, Colton Humphrey of Yukon and Maddox Munson of Shawnee; Mother-in-law; Etta-Jo Wardchow; nieces, Jayllyn and Jody Wardchow; God-son, David “Pat” Cope and wife Melissa; other extended family and loving friends including John and Carolyn Cope, Buck and Lana Day, Charlie and Sue Coleman and Jeff and Michelle Lucy.Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016 and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 and continue through service time.Family gathering to meet with friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July, 27, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home.Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh with John Cope and Buck Day officiating.Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Macomb under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.The family has designated the Elwood and Bessie Cope Memorial Scholarship fund at First United Bank, 301 N. Broadway, Tecumseh, Oklahoma 74873 as appropriate for memorials.
