PHILLIP RAY HASTINGS
1949 - 1997
Phillip Ray Hastings died Monday at his Shawnee residence. He was 48.He was born January 13, 1949, in Muskogee to Curtis A. and Shirley Smith Hastings.He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1967 and attended Oklahoma Baptist University where he played baseball.He served in the U. S. Army one year and in the U. S. Army reserve for six years. He was employed as a machinist in the Shawnee area for several years and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.He is survived by his mother, Shirley Hastings, Oklahoma City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Janelle Hastings, Oklahoma City; Don and Sherry Hastings, Breckenridge, Colorado; maternal grandmother, Bessie Smith, Fort Gibson; and many other relatives and friends.Preceding him in death were his father, Curtis A. Hastings Jr., and his paternal grandmother, Lillian Hastings.Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with Phil Thompson officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or to an animal shelter.
