VIOLET ALFREDA HARRIS
1948 - 2011

Violet Alfreda Cropper Harris left us August 4, 2011, to complete her journey home to OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.
Violet was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas. She was born to Leonia E. Lee and Willard P. Cropper on an amazing summer day; May 5, 1948.
She married Steven L. Harris on March 18, 1969, in Galveston, Texas. They made a life together in Texas, then they moved to Sayre in 1987. Violet finally realized her dream to become a school teacher and she went back to school at SWOSU and graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1992.
She moved back to Fort Worth, Texas, and started her career as a special education teacher. She was a dedicated teacher and gave her students the respect and love they needed and deserved. Finally, after some years passed, she moved to Shawnee, and taught at Shawnee Middle School.
She felt her faith calling and became a proud member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Violet was a blessed and proud mother of four children; Ann Shannon of Azle, Texas; Bobby Gorman of Azle, Texas; Marcella Harris Lee of Louisiana; and Melonie Harris Varnell of Shawnee.
She left behind nine grandchildren, Wade Shannon of Seadrift, Texas; Chris Shannon of Seadrift, Texas; Ashley Bain of Oklahoma City; Audrey Bain of Oklahoma City; Brandon Tripp of Tulsa; Cade Varnell, Drake Varnell, Faith Varnell, and Breeanna Varnell, all of Shawnee; four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Zac, Zoe, and Isaac; one dearly beloved brother, Willie Cropper of Woodville, Texas; and two wonderful nephews, Willie and Waylon Cropper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven L. Harris; her father, Willard P. Cropper; and her mother, Leonia E. Pipes.
Services are being provided by Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.
A non-traditional Wake will be at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Cooper Funeral Home for family and friends to celebrate her life.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. the following morning at St. Benedict Catholic Church, and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery off 177.
