KENNETH ROLAND HARGUS
1928 - 2016


Kenneth Roland “Pete” Hargus, 88, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Shawnee.
He was born March 12, 1928 to Dave “Short” and Ollie Ozment Hargus in Romulus, Oklahoma.
Pete attended school in Romulus and graduated from Macomb High School.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy until he was honorably discharged.
Pete was a steel worker for many years, helping build the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
He worked all over the United States during that career.
He eventually settled in the Tecumseh area after buying the Hilltop Tavern.
Pete loved fishing, hunting and spending time with friends over a beer or two.
He was preceded in death by his son, Pete Hargus; parents, Short and Ollie Hargus; brother, Charley Mac Hargus and sisters, Delores Griffith and Pauline Boepple.
Pete is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, De’Rece and Monte Williams of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sons, Boyd Wayne Hargus and Earl Gene Hargus, both of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; step-daughter, Thelma Lam of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Hargus and Ronnie Hargus; one sister, Velta Faye Duvalle and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016 and 9:00 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 22, 2016.
Per Pete’s request, there will be no services.
Burial will be at Romulus Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
