CHARLEY MAC HARGUS
1933 - 2011
Charley Mac Hargus was born January 7, 1933, in Romulus to Dave "Short" Hargus and Ollie Ozment Hargus.He passed from this life April 1, 2011, at his home in Pearson at the age of 78.Charley attended school in Romulus, graduating from Macomb High School.He married Mary Jo Thomas July 16, 1953, in Romulus.Charley was a rancher and oil producer. He was a lifelong resident of South Pottawatomie County. He loved breeding and training thoroughbred race horses and raising red Brahman cattle. He also loved operating his bulldozer.He was preceded in death by his wife; parents and one sister, Delores Griffith.Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Joe Huff, of Macomb; and Kim and Jim Johnson, of Ardmore; two sons, Mac Hargus and Lorrie Elliott, of Asher; and Curtis Hargus, of Shawnee; eight grandchildren, Mikki, Wiley, Mary, Betty and Cole Hargus, Shelby and Chance Johnson and Darrell Huff; three brothers and one sister-in law, Tom Hargus, Pete Hargus and Ronnie and Pat Hargus; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pauline and Cade Boepple and Velta Faye Duvalle and numerous other family members and friends.Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Romulus Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Whitten officiating. Casket will remain open until service time.Burial will follow at Romulus Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, of Tecumseh.
