1926 - 2002
C. Ray Griffis died in his Woodland home Friday, November 1, 2002, at age 76.
Born February 24, 1926, in Zincville, Oklahoma, Mr. Griffis was the son of the late Elbert N and Mary E. Griffis. He moved to Woodland in 1963. He retired from PG&E in 1991 after 32 years working as a mechanical inspector. According to his family members, "he enjoyed visiting with family, dining out and working on cars." He was also a member of the Woodland Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Griffis is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marguerite (Marge) Griffis of Woodland; sons, Nelson Griffis and wife Barbara of Battleground, Wash., James Griffis and wife Laura of Woodland, and Ray Griffis and wife Rhonda of San Antonio, Texas; and daughters, Janice Jones and husband Richard of Stockton and Kim Somero and husband Roger of Hancock, Mich. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Francis Terill of Los Angeles.
A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. ,Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.
McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
