ESTHER MARY GODWIN
1924 - 2016


Esther Mary Godwin, 92, of McLoud, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in Oklahoma City.
She was born April 20, 1924, in Altus, Oklahoma. She joined her heavenly father on November 29, 2016, at 12:30 a.m.
Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, at McLoud St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 5, at McLoud St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.Z. Godwin, four brothers and three sisters.
On August 17, 1946, Esther married L.Z. Godwin and moved to McLoud, where they remained happily married for 36 years before LZ’s passing.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Willeford and her ten children, Glenda Konrath, Gary Godwin, Mickey Godwin, Elizabeth Fout, Debra Godwin, Teresa Spinks, Jimmy Godwin, Charles Godwin, Connie Hudson and Joy Godwin.
Esther was a devoted homemaker and mother to her children.
She also worked for Little Giant Pump Co. for 20 years and then went to work for Tinker Air Force Base and worked until she was 73 years old, before retiring.
Esther was very active in her church, St. Vincent de Paul from 1946 to the time of her death. She was a longtime member of Veteran’s organizations, VFW 9969 from 1960 to current date and Veterans group 945 LeFemmes Auxiliary of the 40 & 8 Voitures organization in Shawnee.
She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s ball games. She was also a devoted OU fan and Thunder basketball fan.
Esther was loved and will be missed by her ten children, twenty two grandchildren, forty five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
