HERMAN D. GILLES
1914 - 1998


Shawnee resident Herman D. Gilles died Thursday at a Claremore nursing home at the age of 83.
Mr. Gilles was born September 4, 1914, in Ogden, Utah, to Joseph and Lizzie Junk Gilles.
He attended school in Shawnee and had lived in Shawnee since 1917.
He was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad and was a lifelong member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Survivors include Harold Gillis of Claremore and Joe Gilles of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and several great-nephews as well as numerous friends.
