DOUGLAS GARRETSON
1942 - 2008
Yukon resident Douglas Garretson, 66, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, in Tribbey.He was born May 28, 1942, in Tribbey to Mason M. and Ressie C. Klinglesmith Garretson.Born and reared in Tribbey, he also lived in Shawnee and Del City where he and his wife raised their family. They had recently moved to Yukon.He is a 1961 graduate of Tribbey High School.On June 21, 1965 he married Linda Thornton in Tecumseh.Mr. Garretson served in the U.S. Army, and the Oklahoma Air National Guard with the 137th RMS. He worked as a mechanic on fire trucks in the Oklahoma Air National Guard with Will Rogers World Airport. He was a Master Mason with the Macomb Masonic Lodge #310.He loved fishing, spending time at the cabin, and playing with granddaughter Daphne Jane. He was the family clown and enjoyed making everyone laugh.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Connie Mac and Frank Garretson; sister-in-law, Imogene Garretson; two brothers-in-law, Don Farris and Ray Haynes; and three nephews, James Garretson, Merrick Hobbs and Steven Hobbs.Survivors include his wife Linda Garretson of the home; son, Douglas “Marty” Garretson of Oklahoma City, daughter and son-in-law, LeAnn and Craig Szijarto of Stillwater, granddaughter, Daphne Jane Garretson of Oklahoma City, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, his twin brother, James and Linda Garretson of Tribbey, Bill Garretson of Moore, and Charlie and Beth Garretson of Tribbey, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alice Farris of Noble, Marcia and Dale Haynes of Lexington, Wilma and Bub Hobbs of Wanette and Janice Haynes of Tribbey as well as many friends and other family members.Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Adams officiating.Burial will be at Old Moral Cemetery.Published November 6, 2008.
