1918 - 2010
Rose Mathilda Bierwirth Distler, 91, died on April 7, 2010.She was born in Buffalo, New York on May 22, 1918 to Harry Bierwirth and Rosa Susanna Rettke.Rose was preceded in death by husband, Harold Robert "Bob} Distler; son, Michael Robert Distler; grandson, Stephen Phillip Robison; and sister, Geraldine Eleanor Holt.Survivors include her daughters, Susan Rose Durkee of Guthrie; Joan Roberta Foreman and husband Larry of Bethany; Judith Ruth Rives and husband Wayne of Oklahoma City; Anne Elizabeth Mary Distler of Okarche; Christina Marie Ramsey and husband Mike of Tecumseh: and her sister, Doris May Ganzy and husband John of Arizona.Rose was a founding member of St. Patrick's Parish, a member of Sister Barbara's Rosary Group, and a Benedictine Oblate at St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee. Through the years she volunteered with many organizations that were important to her.A Rosary will be said in her honor at 6:30 p.m. and the Wake will start at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9.Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Saturday, April 10.All services to be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.Interment will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at St. Gregory's Abbey Cemetery in Shawnee.Memorial donations may be made to: St. Gregory's Abbey, 1900 W. MacArthur Drive, Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804-2499.With gratitude and love, we thank granddaughter, Angie Hines, her husband, Scott, and their children, Keegan, Kennedy, and Mason for their great gift of love to "G. G. Rose" by welcoming her into their home and bringing her such joy the last four months.
