1919 - 2012
Ola Mae Higgins Clair, age 93 of Wanette, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012.Ola Mae Higgins was born April 20, 1919 in Wanette, Oklahoma, 1 of 10 children born to Murray Drayton Higgins and Zula T. Barnes Higgins.She grew up in Wanette and attended school there.As a young lady, she moved to Oklahoma City for a short time and then to Texas. It was there that she met her true love; a young service man named Ralph Clayton Clair. They fell in love and were married in August of 1943.After the war, they moved to Washington State, settling in Tacoma. Together they raised a son, Robert Drayton.Ola worked tireless as a homemaker, caring and providing for her family. She stayed busy and was always doing something. Ola was gifted with her hands and greatly enjoyed needlework.She returned back home to Wanette in the late 1990's, after Ralph passed on, to be closer to family.She was a member of the Wanette Church of Christ.She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ralph Clair; her parents, Murray and Zula Higgins; her twin sister, Opal Fay Higgins and other siblings, Sylvia Pogue, George Higgins, Bernice Swenson, Winfred Higgins, Ellen Lillard and L. D. Higgins.Ola leaves behind: her son, Robert Drayton Clair of Alexandria, Virginia; two sisters, Peggy Wustenberg of Wanette; and Mildred Eversole of Pearson, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the Wanette Cemetery Chapel, Wanette, Oklahoma.
