HERBERT BYFIELD
1924 - 2007
A graveside service for Herbert Byfield, 82, will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee.He was born April 19, 1924, in Weatherford to Charley and Ethel Hayden Byfield and died Tuesday, January 23, 2007.He joined the Navy in 1941, retiring in 1963 as a petty officer first class. He moved to Yreka, California, where he started the ambulance service and ran it until 1986.He married Della Schmidt November 10, 1987. They moved to Meno and then to Oklahoma City. She died March 16, 2006.He entered the Oklahoma Veteran's Center in Clinton in 2006.Surviving are three children, Annette Seaman of Montague, California; Clyde Byfield of Eugene, Oregon; and Louis Heitz of Post Fall, Idaho; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.Condolences may be made online at ladusauevans@suddenlinkmail.com.Published January 25, 2007.
