JOHN CHUCK BURTON
1940 - 2016
John “Chuck” Burton, 75, lifelong Tecumseh resident, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Tecumseh.He was born August 29, 1940 to George Edward and Minnie Angelina Tarwater Burton in Harjo, Oklahoma.Chuck was raised in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh Public Schools.He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.He married Myrtle F. Tipton on November 5, 1988 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.Chuck worked as a self-employed roofer for 30 years. Until his retirement from roofing he started J & M Escort Service, which he enjoyed doing for several years until he retirement for the second time.He loved the outdoors and enjoyed drinking beer, going fishing and camping.He was preceded in death by his parents, Geroge and Minnie Burton; brothers, R.T. Burton, George E. Burton, Charles “Jack” Burton and Mileis “Jack” Burton; and sisters, Laura P. Dood Rigby, Thelma L. Littleton and Ruth Hopper.Chuck is survived by his wife, Myrtle Burton of the home; two daughters, Connie and Bruce Heath of Campbell, California and Kelli Reana Burton of McLoud, Oklahoma; three granddaughters; one grandson; three sisters, Lois Hopper of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Edna Rigby of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Angeline Aldrich of Las Cruces, New Mexico and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016 and continue until service time on Thursday.Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Will Bentley officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
