JACK BROWN
1931 - 2007
Longtime Tecumseh resident Jack Brown passed away Friday, October 26, in Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 85.He was born March 2, 1922, in Romulus, Oklahoma to Burney M. and Hazel F. Savage Brown.He was a 1940 graduate of Tecumseh High School.On December 23, 1943, he married Opal Faye Kirby. They celebrated 63 years of marriage in 2006.He enlisted in the U. S. navy and was with the North Atlantic Fleet in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. After his discharge from the Navy, he rejoined the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Tecumseh. He remained in the banking industry for 54 years, retiring in 1995 from BancFirst in Shawnee.He was a member of the American Legion Hill-Huett Post #260, and received a certificate of appreciation for his continuous membership of 60 years. He was also a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lavaugh Soward and Lorene Boutelle.He is survived by his wife, Opal Faye Brown of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Mark Brown and wife, Lisa of Oklahoma City; and granddaughter, Nadine Brown.Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Will Bentley, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
