Doris Adelia Rider Brodrick, 90, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Shawnee.Doris was born November 8, 1925 in Okay, Oklahoma to Clyde and Cora Barnett Rider.She attended Macomb School through graduation.Doris married Carl “Leon” Brodrick on December 21, 1944 in Boise City, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2004 the day before their 50th anniversary. To this union was born one son, Edward Leon in June of 1950.Early in their marriage they bought and farmed 80 acres near Campo, Colorado. Soon after, they became pastors of the Assembly of God Church in Campo. In 1956 they moved to Rocky Ford, Colorado and served as pastors there for 17 years. They also pastored churches in Ft. Lupton, Colorado and Ulysses, Kansas.The ministry was her life, and she preached in her way, and he in his. They moved back to Oklahoma after their retirement, and attended First Assembly of God in Tecumseh, pastored by her brother, Pastor Robert Rider and currently by her grandson, Pastor Chad Brodrick.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Brodrick; parents, Clyde and Cora Rider; five brothers, Rev. Robert, Carl, Royal, Orville and Jack Rider and sister, Marjorie Oldham.Doris is survived by her son, Ed and Barbara Brodrick of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandson, Chad and Nyree Brodrick of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Joie and Ty Kendrick of Center, Colorado and five dearly loved great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Barlow of Canon City, Colorado; brother, Noble Rider of Campo, Colorado and other extended family and friends.Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 and continue through service time.Family gathering to meet with friends will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home.Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at First Assembly of God in Tecumseh with Pastor Chad Brodrick officiating.Burial will follow at Mars Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
