Helen Slaymaker Blochowiak died Monday at her Shawnee home. She was 79.Helen Slaymaker was born August 23, 1919, in Shawnee, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Munday Slaymaker.She graduated from St. Benedict High School.She married Pete J. Blochowiak on May 2, 1944, and was a homemaker.She was a member of St. Benedict Church, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary for fifteen years and worked for eight years as a volunteer at Shawnee Regional Hospital.Her husband preceded her in death in February 1998.She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Pete Jr. and Lorna Blochowiak and Robert and Elizabeth Blochowiak, all of Shawnee; David and Rhonda Blochowiak, Little Axe; Edward Blochowiak, Nashville, Tennessee; and Marion "Gib" Blochowiak, Seattle, Washington; daughter, Veronica Blochowiak, Seattle, Washington; ten grandchildren, Angela Ary, Garber, Shelly Priest, Edmond; Janay Blochowiak, Little Axe; Chrystal Blochowiak, Las Vegas, Nevada; Robin Blochowiak and Lori Blochowiak, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Alisa Blochowiak, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Sarah Blochowiak, Nashville, Tennessee; William Blochowiak, U. S. Marine Corps; John Paul Blochowiak, Seattle, Washington; and ten great-grandchildren.Also surviving are her sisters, Darlene Grove, Macomb; Francis Barton, Oklahoma City; Mary Rogers, Electra, Texas; Jo Ann Jones, Midwest City; Norma Jean Eilers, Arlington, Texas; and Jaquie Roffner, Edmond.Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Massoth, O.S.B., celebrant.Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
