Shirley V. Brown Bell of Tecumseh died Saturday in Tecumseh. She was 65.She was born February 21, 1936 in Bartlett, Texas, to Jim and Grace Easterwood Brown.She was reared in Midland, Texas.She was a graduate of Midland High School and later attended Texas Western at El Paso.She was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where she earned her bachelor of arts degree.An artist, she taught art for many years.On April 21, 1957, she married Jvon C. Bell in Prague. Following her marriage, they lived in Madill, Seminole, Bethel and Tecumseh.She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was involved in Republican politics.Preceding her in death were her parents.Surviving are her husband, Jvon C. Bell of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark P. and Sherry Bell of Tecumseh; daughter Janice J. Bell of Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, James R. and Lillian Brown of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Michael D. Bell of Shawnee; Brandon L. Bell of Little Axe; Preston Bell of Tecumseh; Michelle Bell of Tecumseh as well as many family members and friends.Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. John Mixon and the Rev. Michael Cavanaugh officiating.Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.The family has designated New Hope Baptist Church, Route 2, Box 209B, Tecumseh, Oklahoma 74873 as appropriate for memorials.Published October 16, 2001.
