VIRGINIA ASHCRAFT
1940 - 2016


Virginia Johnson Ashcraft, 76, of Tecumseh passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at her home.
She was born May 28, 1940 to O. E. and Virgie Mary Wright Johnson in Noble, Oklahoma.
Virginia’s family moved to Tecumseh in 1946 when she was 6 years old and she has been a resident since. She attended Tecumseh Public Schools and was a 1958 graduate of Tecumseh High School. Virginia worked her way through nursing school while raising 4 boys. She was a graduate of the Gordon Cooper Nursing School program.
She worked for Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center and retired from Griffin Memorial State Hospital in Norman.
Virginia was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, going to garage sales and loved to cook. Virginia loved watching “The Bachelor and The Voice” they were her favorite TV programs. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.E. and Virgie Johnson and nephew, Steven Glen Johnson.
Virginia is survived by four sons, Larry “Randy” Ashcraft of Choctaw, Gerald Keith Ashcraft of Oklahoma City, David Alan and Rhonda Ashcraft of Moore and Timothy Rex and Clarice Ashcraft of Tecumseh; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen Johnson of Tecumseh and other extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, and continue through service time. Family gathering to meet with friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, at Cooper Funeral Home.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phil Thompson of Liberty Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Tribbey Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
