Bobby Gene Lomax, 80, of Shawnee, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Colonial Estates in Shawnee.
Bobby was born on October 20, 1934 to John William and Emma Lou (Goade) Lomax in Prague, Oklahoma.
He moved with his family to Bixby, Oklahoma where he attended grade school and middle school, later moving to Shawnee where he attended Shawnee High School and graduated with the class of 1955. While in high school he lived and worked with his cousin, Lloyd and Dorothy Yoder, learning the plumber’s trade, and he would work for them until their deaths.
He proudly served his country from 1956 to 1959 in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
Bobby went to work for M & M Plumbing for a few years before going to work for Personal Plumbing until his retirement in 2010.
He married Donna Forbes on April 10, 1957 and they were married for 57 plus years. To this union two children were born, Mark Lomax and Janice Lomax.
Bobby was of the Church of Christ faith. He loved sports, and coached little league baseball for several years. He was an avid OU fan. Bobby loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, 1 brother; a grandson; and one brother-in-law, Cotton Walden.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna Lomax of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cheri Lomax and daughter, Janice Lomax, all of Shawnee; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Roy Lee Guinn of Meeker; brother and sister-in-law, James Roy and Marylene Lomax of Bixby; brother-in-law, Jack Forbes; and numerous extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2015 and continue through service time. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at First Nazarene Church in Shawnee with Reverend Johnny Stephens of First Nazarene Church officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
