Billie Ruth Massey Vines

Billie Ruth (Massey) Vines, 85, of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Shawnee.

She was born January 7, 1931 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to A.G. and Minnie Ellen (Love) Massey.

Billie was raised in Sasakwa and graduated as Valedictorian of Spalding High School.

She married Fred Vines on October 18, 1949 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. After marriage they lived in Wewoka and Oklahoma City before settling in the Bethel Acres area in 1955 where they have resided for the last 60 years.

Billie was homemaker for most of her adult life taking care of family and home. She later went to work at Tinker Air Force Base and also worked for several years at Mission Hill Hospital.

She was a Camp Fire Leader, 4H Leader, Bethel Home Room mother and a member of the Bethel Home Demonstration Club and Bethel Booster Club. Billie enjoyed quilting and teaching quilting to those who wanted to learn. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing. Billie attended and was a supporter of Bethel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Vines; parents, A.G. and Minnie Massey; baby sister Massey; and 3 brothers, Bobby Massey, Ronnie Massey and Jackie Massey.

Billie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Fred Vines of the home; daughter, Karen Vines of Bethel Acres, OK; grandson, Andrew Kinnamon of Bethel Acres, OK; 6 sisters, Eunice Barnhart of Shawnee, OK, Elda Lee Harrison of Tecumseh, OK, Betty Dossett of Broken Arrow, OK, Connie Massey of Wewoka, OK, Peggy McAlister of Midwest City, OK and Linda Massey of Del City, OK; brother, Richard Massey of Del City, OK; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will begin 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 and continue through service time. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chris Talley of Bethel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Bethel Acres under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
