Wanda June Oldham White

April 15, 1924 ~ June 12, 2024

Wanda June (Oldham) White died on June 12, 2024, at the age of 100. She was born on April 15, 1924, to Clarence O. Oldham and Ica (Chezem) Oldham in Red Rock, Okla. She graduated from Shawnee High School with the class of 1942 and attended Oklahoma Baptist University.

She retired from United Builders in 1992, after working for more than 30 years. She held positions as the secretary-treasurer, chief accounting officer, and on the board of directors of the company during this time.

She was active in several community organizations. She was with Project Safe for 10 years, from its inception. She was with the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program, where she was among the inaugural class sworn in by Judge Glen Dale Carter. The Shawnee Business and Professional Women honored her as Woman of the Year in 1997. This achievement was recognized on the floor of the Oklahoma State Senate. She was presented a citation for her outstanding civic activities. She was a longtime member of the Shawnee First Christian Church, where she served as an elder for many years, and later attended the Shawnee Wesley Methodist Church.

She was married to Frank White.

She loved to entertain and the family farm was a magnet for many family gatherings including holiday celebrations, cookouts, pool parties, and great birthday parties where her sons' friends could enjoy hay rides, fishing, and playing in the hay loft. A hot cup of coffee and the Oklahoman crossword puzzle got her day off to a good start.

She loved to dance and travel the world. She visited five continents and more than thirty countries. She enjoyed Mediterranean and Caribbean cruises, including traversing the Panama Canal. Among her favorite cities were Hong Kong, Bangkok, and London.

She was a devoted fan of University of Oklahoma football Sooners. She held season tickets for more than 60 years and rarely missed a home game.

Palm Springs, Calif., was her winter home where she had many friends. Her warm and outgoing personality just drew people to her and she loved to have fun.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Glen and Gene, and three sisters, Coyla Bowden, Olive Rogers, and Jonice Webb.

Survivors are her two sons, Bob White and wife Sue of Shawnee, Okla., and Bill White and wife Elizabeth of Norman, Okla., six grandchildren, Mark White of Dallas, Texas, Robert White of Denver, Colo., Kimball White of Norman, Lea and Kent Carson of Fairland, Okla., Debra and Dr. Robert Streight of Tulsa, Okla., and Charleen and Bob Yeatts of Wickenburg, Ariz., two great-grandchildren, Matthew Brotherton of Tulsa, Okla., and Dr. Kaitlyn and Dr. Peter Wojcek of Tulsa, Okla., one great-great-granddaughter, Haley Richmond of Norman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral ceremony for Wanda will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Walker Funeral Chapel. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
