James “Jim” Rouse, 72, of Kingston, Oklahoma former Shawnee, Oklahoma resident passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Kingston.

He was born July 31, 1946 to Harold and Alice (Harris) Rouse in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Jim was raised in Shawnee attended Shawnee Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1964 from Shawnee High School.

After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1968 to 1974 as a 75th Ranger earning 2 Purple Hearts, the Army Commendation Metal, and a Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged. Upon returning home from the service he attended Seminole State College.

He married Doris June Taylor on February 14, 1984 in Texas. They made their home in Shawnee until 2012 when they moved to Kingston.

Jim worked at Sears as an appliance salesman before going to work for Unisys Corporation in Oklahoma City where he worked for more than 20 years.

Jim was a member of the Shawnee Elks Country Club. He loved fishing and golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alice Rouse.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Rouse of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Craig Mincher of Bethel Acres, OK; son, Chris Rouse of Shawnee, OK; 5 grandchildren, Dania and Destiny Mincher, Chloe and Jesse Rouse and Christopher Rouse; 3 sisters, Delores Austin, Sharron Meyer, and Kathy Brooks; and other extended family and friends; and one extra special grand kitten “Muffin.”

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
