Johnny Vinson Pritchard of Shawnee, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the age of 90.
He was born November 23, 1931 to Vinson Pritchard and Ina (Kelin) Pritchard in Seminole, OK.
He married Patsy (Edwards) Pritchard on January 20, 1951, and they enjoyed 68 years together before her passing in August of 2019. Johnny graduated from Earlsboro High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Naval Reserves in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He began his career with the Federal Government in October, 1951 at the age of 19, as an aircraft armament mechanic. He received many promotions over the years and retired in 1986 as the Chief of Quality Control over jet engines, completing 35 years of devoted Federal Service. He continued his education while employed at Tinker Air Force Base and graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1962 with a B.A. in electronics. He was a member of Delta Pi Sigma. Johnny was an avid golfer at Firelake Golf Course and later was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing drums, driving his Corvette convertible, and taking road trips with Patsy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinson and Ina Pritchard; wife, Patsy Pritchard; and sister Peggy Valenzuela.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Keith Ward of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Pam Pritchard of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Jessica McClain and husband, Jordan, of Shawnee, Brittyn Combs and husband, Mark, of Mustang and Johnny Pritchard and wife, Rebecca, of Mustang; great-grandchildren, Brody and Olivia Wolfe of Shawnee and Tyson and Jarron Combs of Mustang; brothers, Jack Pritchard of Stillwater and Jimmy Pritchard and wife Wanda of Shawnee; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 and 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home. Casket will remain closed during service. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2022 at Taproot Church, 22 E. Dunloup, Shawnee, OK with Pastor Keith Ward, Taproot Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
