Gertrude B. Spybuck Pickering

Gertrude B. Pickering passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born on March 1, 1945, in Shawnee, Okla., to Charlie B. and Lillie (Davis) Spybuck. Gertrude lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and friends. She graduated from Bethel High School and continued her education at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Gertrude worked at Worthington Pump while attending night school. She then worked many years as a paraprofessional at Barnard School teaching first and second grade. Gertrude was especially proud of her role as a grandmother, having raised her three grandsons with abundant love and support. She cherished the moments spent watching them play sports and never hesitated to offer encouragement from the sidelines. Gertrude's home was always open, welcoming any child in need, a testament to her compassionate spirit. In her leisure time, Gertrude enjoyed a variety of activities. She was an avid lover of the outdoors and found joy in fishing, camping, and traveling. An enthusiast of game shows and police shows like COPS, Gertrude's zest for life was infectious, making her a cherished presence among those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lillie Spybuck, son Mark Meek, sister Elaine Newton, sister Sadie Low, and husband Bob Pickering.

Gertrude is survived by her loving family including her daughter Tammy Knoles and husband Tony of the home, daughter Vikki Stryker and husband Danny Cheatwood, (son) grandson Doyle Stryker and wife Mariah, grandson Derek Woody and wife Megan, (son) grandson Laurel Stryker and wife Kendra Fixico, grandson Deven Ewing, (son) grandson, Rodney Stryker, grandsons, Logan and Korban Woody, grandson Bradley Stryker, granddaughter Mvlea Stryker, sister Twana Patty, brother Garland Spybuck, sister Margaret Shugrue, as well as many grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Ladine Steward and Cindy Belshe.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service. A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derek Woody, Rodney Stryker, Laurel Stryker, Doyle Stryker, Logan Woody, and Korban Woody.

In this time of sorrow, we remember the best mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Gertrude Pickering, a woman who filled our lives with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever remain etched in our hearts.
