Sidney Freeman, 84, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed from this life Sunday, May 6, 2018 in Shawnee.
He was born August 2, 1933 to Earnest and Lena Freeman in New Boston, Texas.
Sidney was raised all over Oklahoma and Texas as a child. He has been a resident of Shawnee since 1979.
He married Sally “June” Crawford on April 7, 1967 in Bassett, Texas and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2005.
Sidney was a man of God and pastored many churches across Oklahoma during his lifetime.
Sidney enjoyed fishing, golfing, fixing and building things, visiting and traveling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were the focal point of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Freeman, daughter-in-law, Donna Freeman; 2 sisters, Syble Durham and Marie Morris; and 1 brother, Herbert Freeman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Debbie and Woody Junot of Panama City Beach, FL and Kay and Greg Gibson of Shawnee, OK; 3 sons and 4 daughters-in-law, Rodger and Joyce Freeman of Maud, TX, Darrell and Cheryl Freeman of Macomb, OK, Michael and Lori Freeman of Okmulgee, OK and Betty Freeman of Lafayette, LA; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Thelma Eldred, Madie Mead, Fran Reagan and Jean Monroe; 4 brothers, Roy, Chuck, Ken and Jim Freeman; 1 special brother-in-law, Weldon Crawford; and numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2018 and continue through service time. Family gathering to greet friends and family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Open Door Church of God in Shawnee with Jimmy Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
