KJ worked for Transcon Trucking in the 1960’s as a cross country driver. He also worked as a chain hand in the oilfield and as cab driver for Shawnee Checker Cab.
KJ attended and served as a Deacon at the Christian Church in Meeker for many years.
He loved dancing and met his wife Barbara at a senior dance. KJ loved playing cards, especially Pinochle, and loved reading and enjoyed reading his Bible. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing vegetables and sharing with his family. KJ loved life, family and Jesus. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the focal point of his life.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty June Boland; his son, Fred Keith Boland; sister and brother-in-law, Clydean and Harold Decker; and his parents, Clyde and Eva Boland.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Sue Boland of the home; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Kenneth Boland, Jr. of Shawnee, OK, Crystal Boland of Wanette, OK and George Maloy Smith of Piedmont, OK; 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Roberta and Pat Kelly of Shawnee, OK, Rebecca and Gerald Barnhill of Sand Springs, OK, Janice Graham of Meeker, OK and Lori Rogers of Meeker, OK; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 1 sister-in-law, Donald Ray and Sue Boland of Oregon; many friends and extended family.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019 and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019. Graveside Service will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee with Phil Thompson, Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
