Longtime Tecumseh resident Letha M. Rivers, 75, passed from this life Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Seminole Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Seminole to Fred Napoleon and Velma (Tallie) Napoleon. She grew up in Seminole where she attended Booker T. Washington High School being honored as Football Queen. She was also a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Tecumseh.
etha loved to cook, garden and loved decorating but most of all loved being with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Linzy Lee Rivers who died March 10, 2006; and by four brothers, Fred Jr., Alvin, John and Leon Napoleon.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Leonard Lee Rivers of Tecumseh; three daughters and a son-in-law, Velma Jean and Eddie Carr of Tecumseh, Vanessa Alexander of Shawnee, and Veada Marie Capas of Shawnee; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Spencer and Bessie Napoleon of Madera, Calif., Bobby and Kaye Napoleon of Shawnee, Ted and Kathy Napoleon of San Jose, Calif., and Willie and Linda Napoleon of Holdenville; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Henry Hall of Oklahoma City, Eudell Young of Shawnee, Hazel and Marvin Keesee of Lima, Wyomia Reed of Oklahoma City, Ernestine Gordon of Wewoka, and Debra Teal of Shawnee; grandchildren, Shana Marie and Rickey Christopher of Oklahoma City, Robert Ervin and his wife Rachel of Wagner, Arsenio Carr of Tecumseh, and Shawn Deshai Alexander of Shawnee; great grandchildren, Gregrion and Hailey Christopher of Oklahoma City and Robert Issac Ervin of Wagner; she is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Burial will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery in Earlsboro. Messages of condolence can be sent to the family online at www.swearingenfuneralhome.com
