Dr. Ervin Corvay Jackson, 56, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and former Shawnee, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Monday, January 10, 2022.
Ervin Corvay Jackson was born to the parentage of Alvin and Thelma (Rivers) Jackson in the City of Shawnee, Oklahoma, at Mission Hill Hospital. He was the link that blended 17 siblings…7 brothers and 10 sisters. Family meant everything to Ervin, and he was so proud of his heritage.
His formative school education began in Shawnee at Dunbar Elementary and Shawnee High School, graduating with the class of 1983. He successfully matriculated through the University of Oklahoma class of 1986. Continuing his thirst for knowledge, he studied at Heritage Christian University receiving his BA in 1993. He received two MS: one from Freed-Hardeman University in 1995 and the other from the University of Alabama in 1998. The pinnacle of his education was studying organizational leadership at the University of Alabama, receiving his Ph.D in 2002. Ervin spoke three languages fluently- English, Spanish and Greek.
Ervin married his childhood sweetheart Melinda Simpson on December 26, 1983, and to this union three sons were born, Ervin Jerome, Andre Corvay and Erik Renald. This family was extended to include Adrian Ackerson, Cavontice Gordon and LaToya Hill. His love for his family never ended, but sadly, the marriage did. In 2019, he found love in Jacquelin Rueda, and on August 31, 2019, they pledged their love in holy matrimony. This union opened his heart to three daughters, Jacklyn, Diana and Monica. Love never ends; Ervin took with him love and leaves a legacy of love.
Ervin served in the Army, and upon his military discharge, he began ministering at Sterling Boulevard Church of Christ from September 1992 to November 2009 (17 years). He then moved to Florida and became senior pulpit minister at Hartman Road Church of Christ from September 2011 until November 2017.
Ervin was Dean of Students at Heritage Christian University for sever year from June 1998 to June 2005. He became the instructor of speech as well as intercultural and interpersonal communications at Eastern Florida State College from April 2017 until his passing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Jacquelin of the home; three sons, Ervin Jerome, Andre Corvay and Erik Renald; his extended family, Adrian Ackerson, Cavontice Gordon, LaToya Hill, and three daughters, Jacklyn, Diana and Monica; his mother, Thelma Jackson; brothers, Robert Earl Winrow, Denver, CO, Kenneth Winrow of Shawnee, OK, Dr. DeWayne (Margaret) Winrow of Granada Hills, CA, Lester (Tricia) Winrow of Gainesville, VA; sisters, Annette McNeil of Oklahoma City, OK, Glenda (Ernest) Franklin of Springer, OK, Reujena Winrow of Shawnee, OK, Diane Morris of Ada, OK, Sharron Knighton of Wewoka, OK and Chris Statum of Oklahoma City, OK; extended family, Melvin Jackson, Hattie Carr, Vera Myers and Maurice Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2022 and 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Central Church of Christ in Shawnee with his brother, Dr. Dewayne Winrow, Senior Minister, Reseda Boulevard Church of Christ, Granada Hills, CA officiating. Burial will follow at Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
