1941 - 2015
James David Martin, longtime Seminole county resident, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 73.David was born November 26, 1941 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents, Lois Graden Martin and Eleanor McCullough Martin.David joined the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked as an oilfield roustabout. He also was a member of the Assembly of God Church where he loved to sing Christian songs and play his guitar.David is survived by two daughters, Lisa Danell Martin of Norman, Oklahoma, Jacquline “Jackie” Leeanne Allen of Seminole, Oklahoma; five brothers, John Paul Martin and his wife Aaroneta of Greenville, Texas, L.G. Martin, Jr. and his wife Julie of Maud, Oklahoma, Lawerence Wesley and his wife Joyce of Sasakwa, Oklahoma, Lemuel Timothy Martin and his wife Linda of Maud, Oklahoma and Luther Carlus Martin of Maud, Oklahoma; two sisters, Rebecca Lou Duncan of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Cindy Kay Robertson and her husband Ronnie of Seminole, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Ravonda Lilly, Rachael Allen, Sarah Ruth; four great grandchildren, Noah Ruth, Jacob Allen, Vanessa Lilly and Caleb Ruth.David was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Graden and Eleanor Martin; brother, Daniel Leon Martin; two sisters, Frieda Lee Martin, Billie Sue Curtis; grandparents, Carlus Cleveland, Hettie Angelene Martin, Luther McCullough and Pearl Robinson.Serving as casket bearers are: Michael Martin, Levi Blackburn, Chris Lee, Rev. Dan Martin and David Coker.The family would like to give a special Thank You to the Sulphur Veterans Center and the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital of Sulphur, Oklahoma.Funeral services with military honors will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 with brothers, Rev. Wesley Martin and Rev. Tim Martin officiating.Burial will take place at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, Oklahoma.
