Elmo Gene Tiffin was born October 10, 1927 on the Tiffin farm west of Maud, OK and died September 11, 2014 in Norman, OK. His parents were Walter C. and Dora E. Tiffin. Gene had several brothers and sisters and survived them all, Houston Tiffin, Lillian Clower, Sidney Tiffin, Orville Tiffin, Cleo McMurray, Wilma Brewer, Clovie Tiffin, Delana Reed, & Virginia Walker.

Gene excelled in high school athletics competing in all sports, especially football and track. His love for sports continued after graduation particularly NY Yankees Baseball and Oklahoma State Cowboy Football.

Gene served his country from 1950-1952 in the United States Army achieving the rank of corporal. He was a lifelong defender of freedom and the United States of America.

Following his military service, he met and married his wife of 58yrs, Loretta Dutton. In 1956 Gene and Loretta left Oklahoma and moved to Jal, New Mexico where Gene started his career with El Paso Natural Gas Co. His career lasted over 32 years, most of which they lived in Beaver, Oklahoma where they raised their three kids through high school. After the kids were grown, Gene & Loretta made one last move back to West Texas before retiring back to Norman in 1989. Gene’s retirement years were spent watching the grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and grow up.

Gene is survived by his wife, Loretta; 3 children, Kay Niemyer (Roy) Edmond, OK, Shelia Tiffin Norman, OK, and Doyle Tiffin (Zay) Norman, OK; 5 grandchildren, Chad Niemyer (Kelly), Tiffine Montgomery (Michael), Kayla Tiffin, Kaci Tiffin, Wajer Tiffin-Trobee; 5 great grandchildren, Kaylin, Ivie, Kolton, Shelbie and Kelsie.

Gene loved all people especially the Tiffin name. All people claiming our family name with honesty were welcomed. He claimed many to the Tiffin family and many were grateful.

Gene was loved by all and continues to live in the hearts of all that had the opportunity to know him.

John 13: 34-35, “A new commandment I give to you that you love one another: Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”

Arrangements for Gene and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
