Reta Aleen Schleicher Roy

Reta Aleen Roy, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at her home, following a 17-day bout with cancer. Early this month, a tumor was discovered inside Reta's spinal cord, she fought bravely.

Reta, the daughter of Albert and Lena (Gracy) Schleicher, was born June 16, 1938, in Wichita, Kan. After graduating from high school, she went to work for Boeing aircraft, working for them for a few years. She then went to work for Greyhound Bus Company. Reta was a busy lady, in addition to working for Greyhound, she was a receptionist for Seminole Vet Clinic for over 40 years, and she volunteered at Seminole Food Pantry, for many years. Reta was a social butterfly who loved country and western dancing. She and Fred raised Arabian horses for over 50 years. Reta was known to dozens of teenagers who worked for Kaboom Fireworks as "Grandma". She would take them brownies and snacks on a daily basis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lena Schleicher; her husband, Fred Roy; and three brothers.

Reta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Jennie Roy of Maud; along with many other family members and friends. Casket bearers will be Jeremiah Carter, Dakota Notah, Jayse Beverage, Eugene Robertson, Jerry Williams, and Rick Bourque.

A graveside service will be Friday, October 25 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
